Considering College in Canada

Summary

Once you have finished your studies, you may be eligible to apply under the Canadian Experience Class for permanent residency if you have at least one year skilled work experience in Canada. You must make your application while working in Canada, or within one year of having worked in Canada. Of course, you will have to apply for a work permit in order to work in Canada. This can be done under the Postgraduate Work Permit Programme. You may qualify if your length of study is eight months or more and you apply within 90 days of being notified that you have successfully completed your academic programme. The college or university must also be participating in the workpermit programme, so you need to find out if your college qualifies for the Postgraduate Work Permit Programme. The issue for you will be that your work permit can only be valid as long as your programme of study, which is eight months. However, you need to work for at least a year to apply for permanent residency under the Canadian Experience Class.
