THE JAMAICA Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) is calling on the United States Government to delay the implementation date of the 'Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative' to January 1, 2008.
"We are asking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take up the matter in Washington and we will lobby through the media and the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA)," said Godfrey Dyer, JHTA president."Our minister has initiated discussions with her colleague Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Security with a view to hopefully getting the date extended to January 2007 or 2008. In the meantime, we are working with our travel partners in the U.S.A. to sensitise potential visitors of this new requirement."See the full content of this document
