1972: Rev. Antonio Martin, Curate of St. George's Anglican Church, Kingston, is ordained a priest in a service at St. George's. The ordination is done by Rt. Rev. H. D. Edmondson, Suffragan Bishop of Mandeville. Participating in the service are the Anglican Bishop, Rt. Rev. J.C. Swaby, Ven. Archdeacon E.L. Maxwell, Canon R.O.C. King, Rev. Peter Mullings, Rev. Vernon Scott, and Rev. Gervais Clarke.

1978: Winning silver for Jamaica at the 13th Central American and Caribbean Games in Medellin, Colombia, are the women's 4x 100 metres team of Maureen Gottshalk, Ruth Williams, Lileith Hodges and Dorothy Scoot with a time of 44.41. And the women's 4x400 event sees the Jamaica team of Ruth Williams, Normalee Murray, Maureen Gottshalk. Helen Blake wins silver in 3:41.69, and Karl Smith captures the bronze in the men's 110-metre high hurdles in 14.71.
